Developer (Contract) for Gurgle.com - January 2008 - April 2008

Gurgle.com required a Facebook application for their Baby Naming engine, which will allow perspective parents to invite their friends to help name their baby. Users can vote and suggest names for the baby/babies, and when the child is born, the parent can announce the name chosen on their Facebook profile. The development of this was done in C#.Net 2.0, using a Sql 2005 database, and the Facebook.Net framework.

Developer (Contract) for Media Burn Ltd - July 2007 - December 2007

Media Burn required a developer for the development of the Sky (BSkyB) Motoring portal - a site required a 800mb data import, daily continuous updates, video upload and integration facilities for content editors, contextual adverts that display new and used cars that are currently for sale in a 10 mile radius from the user’s location, an extended Cars for Sale search, which allows users to filter down the results based on price, distance, mileage (of vehicle), colour, fuel and transmission. Development of this web application was done mainly in C#.Net 2.0, using the NHibernate core for the majority of the data access, to speed up development, and integration with 3rd party data providers.

Software Developer for Great Hotels Org, March 2007 – June 2007

My current work involved setting up development infrastructure, using Subversion, Nant, MSBuild, and the migration of old data from Visual Source Safe to Subversion, and the automation of system builds, in addition to general code maintenance to improve the User Interface and experience, by utilising correct HTML, user friendly icons, and making the interface more intuitive. Other work for GHORG involves creating reports with Microsoft SQL Report Services, and integrating reports into the User Interface. More recent work for Great Hotels Org revolves around the development of the Great Hotels Leisure Network, and the development of a Tour Operator interface.

Developer for Snow Valley Limited, November 2004 – December 2006

Work for Snow Valley involves maintenance of existing systems and development of new functionality for clients such as Toys ‘R’ Us and Halfords, and other clients with a large e-commerce presence with a heavy reliance on uptime, and mission-critical systems, and a thorough QA procedure, has eliminated the need to re-code any new functionality, or to perform repeated maintenance on sites. Other tasks with Snow Valley include assisting new personnel to get to grips with code, and tutoring colleagues on the .net framework and best practice techniques. Recent work has involved development on a LDAP user manager, and the rewriting of the SQL Reporting Services 2005 UI, adding ability to dynamically change report connections, and adding “Data Feed” capability, and scheduling.

Software Engineer for Drake & Company Property Management Ltd, July – October 2004

I was commissioned by Drake and Company to develop a prototype web based property management system. The prototype system was a feasibility study into the use of web based applications in the field of property management, allowing the managing agent, the tenants, and the owners of the buildings to see how easy it would be to share the information automatically, with the necessary safeguards required by law.

Web Application Developer for GHSP, February 2004 –June 2004

Development of an in-house web based forum for GHSP. The forum is to be used as the primary tool to assist development teams share ideas and information on current projects, and also as a knowledge repository, using Windows Authentication to allow users to login with their usernames and passwords. The system utilises web services, powered by a Microsoft SQL Server backend.
